Abstract

The role of surgical treatment for spinal metastasis is often limited and remains controversial. However, there are clear benefits of surgical intervention in some cases when considering quality of life for the rest of patients' lives and controlling local tumors. The authors present 2 patients of spinal metastases involving multiple columns of the lumbosacral area who underwent single stage posterior spondylectomy with vertebral reconstruction and posterior stabilization. Although we could not guarantee significant prolongation of the life expectancy, the functional quality of life of the patient was remarkably improved after the surgery.
